Xbox Co-Creator Ed Fries – IGN Interview

Ed Fries is a prominent figure in the video game industry, known for his significant contributions to the development of the Xbox console. He joined Microsoft in 1986 as one of the original developers of Excel and Word, but he later transitioned to the company’s game division. In 1999, Fries was tasked with leading the development of Microsoft’s first console, which would eventually become the Xbox. He played a crucial role in shaping the console’s hardware and software design, as well as building relationships with third-party developers and publishers. Fries also oversaw the development of several popular Xbox games, including Halo and Fable. After leaving Microsoft in 2004, he continued to work in the game industry as an investor and consultant, and he remains a respected voice in the gaming community.
