Digital Foundry – Not much has been seen of The Outer Worlds prior to launch – but with developer Virtuos claiming any current-gen console game can be ported to Switch, and with 1080p docked and 720p mobile resolutions announced, we were hopeful of a good conversion. Ultimately, the ambition is there, but the cuts are too many and the final pay-off simply isn’t good enough.
TheGebs24 – In this video Gemma discusses Games she LOVED as a kid but DISLIKE as an adult! This is a video response to Metal Jesus Rocks and crew in which they discuss retro games that peaked their attention as kids and then failed to live up to the previous hype!
PeteDorr – I pick out a stack of PS2 RPG’s from my collection that are $20 or under on US eBay. There are lots of underappreciated games in here that rarely get mentioned as a recommendation by others, so let me know if you end up giving them a try after watching this!
Little Car – 1936 was a great year to be alive, because the first car appeared with pop-up headlights – quite possibly the best thing to happen to headlights since someone thought to use a light bulb instead of a gas light. They appeared simultaneously on two cars – the Italian Alfa Romeo 8C, and the American Cord 810. You had to manually wind them up and down using a handle on the dashboard. At the time they were a handy way of streamlining the front of the car, producing an aerodynamic shape that mimicked racing cars of the day, although the streamlining advantage was negligible.

JohnRiggs – An NES prototype for the unpublished Days of Thunder was found on several floppy disks, the game’s code manually pieced together and made playable thanks to the Video Game History Foundation and Rich Whitehouse. This unreleased Days of Thunder for NES is completely different from the one that was officially released.
SwitchUp – Shantae and the Seven Sirens is the latest game in the long running series to hit the Switch. Going for a metroidvania style and streamlining its magic system, is it worth getting? Well, let’s find out…
Here it is. The first trailer for the Game Chasers movie. You can still pre-order it here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-game-chasers-motion-picture–3#/
JohnRiggs – It’s always interesting to see what the same game looks like and plays like on other platforms. Here part 2 of NES games that were also on Atari 2600.
